There are many breeds of these birds and the Araucana Hen is one of them. It is also called an Easter Egger as it has green colored egg. These birds are from 5 1/2 to 6 lbs. of weight. The color of the eggs can also be blue and green.

It's thought that these birds came originally from Thailand, in South-East Asia. They were first domesticated about 7000 BC. Domesticated birds probably came to West Asia from India, and from there to Africa, and Europe. Roosters look very bright in the photos and pictures.
